Black silicon carbide grit for Tumbler Rock Polishing Grit Media

Black silicon carbide grit for Tumbler Rock Polishing Grit Media

Black silicon carbide grits are sharp and hard with fast cutting speed. They work for tumbling machines, flat laps, ball mills, and any application requiring coarse or fine grinding grits. Standard grit sequence: Black SiC 60/90 mesh, 220 mesh and 600 mesh. Those silicon carbide grits can be adjusted according to your material and requirements before polishing. For best results, use 800 mesh alumina for pre-polishing before the final polish. The same silicon carbide grit sequence, along with alumina pre-polishing, also applies to vibratory tumblers.

1. High hardness and sharp cutting action ensure high grinding efficiency.

It rapidly removes surface crusts, burrs, and irregularities, thereby shortening the time required for rough and medium grinding stages.
2. Excellent self-sharpening properties.

The abrasive particles continuously generate new cutting edges during the process, resisting dulling or clogging, maintaining consistent grinding performance over extended tumbling periods.
3. Chemically stable and resistant to acids and alkalis.

It does not react with materials like agate or river stones during polishing, preventing staining, blackening, or surface contamination, and ensuring a clean, natural finish.
4. Sharp-edged grains with uniform sizing ensure balanced stress distribution during tumbling.

This results in even grinding patterns and controllable surface textures, facilitating a smooth transition from rough grinding to fine polishing.
5. High wear resistance and a long service life allow for repeated use, offering lower consumable costs for DIY enthusiasts.
6. Suitable for wet tumbling processes.

The breakdown of media is controllable and dust is relatively easy to manage, making it a highly cost-effective abrasive for the rough and medium grinding stages of stone tumbling.
