The silicon carbide abrasive sand for abrasive tools
Silicon carbide is an abrasive sand harder than aluminum oxide. The hardness of SiC is Mohs 9.2-9.5. It is more suitable for grinding marble, stone, glass, and granite than steel and iron. So silicon carbide abrasive sand mostly works as the raw material of hard & fragile abrasive tools.
The abrasive tools made from silicon carbide are as below:
1. Vitrified abrasive grinding wheels for stone, hard alloy, and ceramic grinding, trimming, and polishing.
2. Coated abrasive. Silicon carbide abrasive sand especially black SiC is suitable for abrasive belts and paper.
3. Bonded abrasive tools such as grinding stones, grinding cup wheels, and grinding blocks for ceramic tile treatment.
4. Bonded abrasive stone such as whetstone, grinding rob for hard alloy grinding.
5. Polishing block & sheet for steel, wood polishing, etc.
6. Filler of diamond grinding disc. Silicon carbide hardness is a little lower than diamond. It can save cost of diamond abrasive tools as filler.
7. Silicon carbide abrasive brushes.
8. Polishing liquid, compounds, etc.
