Green silicon carbide powder M5 M7 for Micro Capillary Polishing

Green silicon carbide polishing powder is widely used for grinding and polishing optical glass components. GC M5 M7 grits have very high fineness and are suitable for polishing the end of optical micro capillarys made of optical glass components.

The material of fiber optic capillaries is usually quartz glass or high borosilicate optical glass. It undergoes multiple reflections and refractions when transmitting optical signals. End polishing can ensure that the impact of reflection, refraction, and scattering is minimized during the direct injection and passage of light through optical fibers. It can also reduce signal loss and improve transmission efficiency and reliability. Polishing the end face can reduce the reflection and loss of fiber optic capillaries connected by coupling agents. That is beneficial for long-distance high-speed data transmission of the capillary.

The end face smoothness of the fiber optic capillary after cutting is poor, and further polishing is needed. The micro capillary is of high hardness and fragility glass tubes. It is particularly important to choose the appropriate polishing powder. Green silicon carbide has a hardness second only to artificial diamond micro powder.  In the meantime, the cost is lower than diamond, making it a commonly used polishing powder for end polishing. Green silicon carbide powder always works in a form of polishing liqiud. It has the characteristics of uniform texture and high cleanliness. Green silicon carbide micron powder M5 M7 are ideal grits to get a fine surface in this application.
