Silicon carbide black grit for grinding
There are many types of abrasive grains including corundum and silicon carbide. And the principles of choose proper one are directly related to the physical and mechanical properties of the processed material. Generally speaking, when grinding workpiece materials with high tensile strength, it is advisable to choose aluminum oxide(corundum) grit with high toughness. When grinding workpiece materials with low tensile strength, it is advisable to choose silicon carbide black grit with high brittleness and hardness.
Here are the list of alloy material and non-metallic material which silicon carbide black grit works:
Substrate Material | Tensil strength(N/mm²) |
Lead | 1.8 x 9.8 |
Tin | 2 x 9.8 |
Aluminum | 8 x 9.8 |
Zinc | 15 x 9.8 |
Copper | 18 x 9.8 |
Iron and cast iron | (25-40) x 9.8 |
Rubber | (30-60) x 9.8 |
Magnesium alloy | (21-26) x 9.8 |
Besides, silicon carbide black grain (F24-F220,P24-P220) is also suitable for grinding ceramics, marble, granite, etc.
