Description：

Refractory Black Silicon carbide is of a high melting point(about 2700 C) material. It is produced at high temperature in an electric resistance type furnace with quarts sand and petroleum coke. With the low thermal expansion and good ability to anti-high-temperature shock, it is an excellent refractory material.

Metallurgical:

The silicon carbide used in steel mills is mainly composed of black silicon carbide with content of 88%-80%-75%. The content of the silicon carbide is mainly based on the different formulations. and the different use requirements of the produced steel types are also different. At high temperatures, silicon carbide decomposes into carbon and silicon ions. The chemical properties make that silicon carbide react with oxygen first, which can reduce the oxidation of molten iron. Therefore, it can be used as a deoxidizer for steelmaking.
