Black Silicon Carbide F20 F24 F30 F54 F70 anti-skid floor aggregate

Black silicon carbide (Carborundum) is a good filler as an anti-skid aggregate in flooring. It can improve the anti-skid performance and service life. Meanwhile, it can reduce maintenance costs after installation. At present, the main materials added to wear-resistant flooring include quartz sand, garnet, aluminum oxide, silicon carbide, and other materials.  The cost of Silicon carbide is the highest. However, it’s the most workable one with good wear resistance, corrosion resistance, and durability. Black silicon carbide F24, F30, F54, and F70 are commonly adopted in flooring applications.

Black silicon carbide is also known as black carborundum. Its abrasive code is C and its appearance is shining black granular. The main chemical composition is SiC, and the SiC content of black silicon carbide is not less than 98% (first-grade product). As a non-slip aggregate, it has the following advantages:

>>High strength and strong wear resistance. The Mohs hardness of black silicon carbide is 9.15-9.2. And the Vickers hardness at room temperature is HV3100-3200kg/cm3. Even at a high temperature of 1000 ° C, the Vickers hardness can reach 1300-1400kg/cm3. The Mohs hardness of quartz sand is 7, garnet is 8-8.5, and corundum is 9.0. They are all lower than that of silicon carbide. The hardness of silicon carbide is only slightly lower than that of boron carbide and lower than that of diamond.

>>High compressive strength and crushing resistance. The compressive strength of a single particle of first-class black silicon carbide is 186 KN/cm2. And the average crushing strength of silicon carbide with particle sizes of 90-2500um is 5800 KPa/cm2. It can withstand the crushing of vehicles and heavy loading.

>>Black silicon carbide has a high refractory temperature. Black silicon carbide has a melting point of 2600 ° and maintains high strength and stable performance at high temperatures. It has a high level of fire protection.

>>Silicon carbide has strong corrosion resistance. It does not react with acids or bases. Therefore, it can be used as a flooring material for special places such as laboratories.

>>There are numerous particle sizes available for black silicon carbide. The black silicon carbide models produced by Haixu Abrasive cover powders range from 1-3mm sand to 3.5 microns. Users and construction parties can freely choose according to their needs. The models commonly used by users are as follows:

1. Black silicon carbide 1-3mm, F16 (1000mm): used for steep slopes, ramps, hazardous areas, etc.
2. Black silicon carbide 1-2mm, 1.2-1.6mm, F24 (700-1000um): industrial factory floors, sidewalks, paving etc.
3. Black silicon carbide 0.4-0.6mm, F30 (600um): stairs, platforms, loading and unloading docks, platforms, hospital flooring, etc.
4. Black silicon carbide F54 (300um): Industrial paving, stairs, and landings. Also used as an abrasive non-skid filler in Stair Nosing.
5. Black silicon carbide F70 (225um), F80 (185um): swimming pools, polyurethane flooring, epoxy floor paint, sanitary flooring, etc.
