How to choose black silicon carbide abrasive F-grit and P-grit?
There are two types of black silicon carbide abrasive sand: F-grit and P-grit. They are both suitable for grinding and grinding. However, there are many differences in production process, particle size standard and purpose. How to choose black silicon carbide F-grit and P-grit is important for different applications. There are several difference between the two types of black silicon carbide grit:
1. Production process
Black silicon carbide F-grit gets from crushing, air flow milling or ball milling, and screening of black silicon carbide blocks. Black silicon carbide P-grit is produced by crushing, roller milling. Then take further process including acid and alkali washing, water washing, precipitation, drying, and screening. Therefore, the production process of P-grit silicon carbide is more complicated. Although black silicon carbide F-grit can also be made by acid and alkali washing, it is often limited to high-end abrasive tool raw materials.
2. Particle size standards
The particle size standard of black silicon carbide F-grit adopts the particle size standard of FEPA ISO 8486 F-grit, and the detection screen is a 5-pass screen. The shape of the particles is polygonal.
The particle size standard of black silicon carbide P-grit adopts the particle size standard of FEPA F ISO 6344 P-grit, and the detection screen is a 6-pass screen. The particle size concentration of black silicon carbide P-grit is higher, and the particle shape is a long multi-angle shape.
3. Applications
As a raw material for abrasive tools, black silicon carbide F-grit is mainly for bonded abrasive tools and grinding products that need to grind simultaneously. In addition, it is also suitable for sandblasting, wear resistance, ceramics and other fields.
The application scenario of black silicon carbide P-grit is relatively simple, and it is specially used in coated abrasive tools where part of the abrasive is adhered to the substrate and part of the abrasive is involved in grinding.
