The bulk density of Black SiC for abrasives
Black silicon carbide is a superior material for abrasives. It is suitable for both bonded abrasive wheels and coated abrasive tools. Generally, F grit macro black silicon carbide is for bonded abrasives such as grinding disc and wheels. P grit macro black silicon carbide is for bonded abrasives such as waterproof sanding paper, sanding sheets, polishing wheels, etc. Bulk density is one of the key factors for black SiC grains. High density means more grains packed in the same shape as grinding wheels. That will make the abrasive wheel life longer.
The raw material and milling technology and Cleanness of Black silicon carbide all inflected the bulk density.
Firstly, the SiC grains made from Petroleum coke are of high specific gravity. That will get higher-density grains. Secondly, a special milling process makes the grains shape with fewer angulars will increase the bulk density.
Clean black silicon carbide with few finer powder and narrow particle size distribution get higher density.
