Green silicon carbide blasting media for Titanium
Green silicon carbide blasting media is an excellent abrasive medium for titanium alloy or titanium products. Titanium alloy processing often requires grinding, polishing, sandblasting, and other processes. General grinding media such as garnet and alumina are not suitable for titanium alloy materials, but green silicon carbide abrasive with stronger grinding force performs well with this application.
Titanium alloy has high mechanical strength, good toughness, lower density than stainless steel, and good corrosion resistance. It is usually for making products such as aviation parts, surgical instruments, human implant parts, electronic product shells, etc. However, compared with aluminum alloy or stainless steel, titanium alloy has low thermal conductivity. If use abrasive grinding wheels or belts to grind Titanium components, the heat generated by cutting & grinding will accumulate in the grinding area. That will cause metal debris to block the abrasive tool and cause workpiece surface burns. Sandblasting operation on titanium alloy with appropriate abrasive can effectively improve surface burn. In the meantime, it can also get the required surface fineness by blasting instead of grinding. The green silicon carbide abrasive has high strength and sandblasting efficiency. It is suitable for blasting hard metals. At the same time, many grain sizes of green silicon carbide abrasive are available from GC F16 grain size sand to GC JIS10000 # micro powder.
In practical applications, green silicon carbide blasting media can achieve good results in sandblasting titanium alloy kitchenware, titanium alloy medical parts, and titanium alloy shells of mobile phones.
