Characteristics and Applications of 90% Purity Silicon Carbide

90% purity silicon carbide is a kind of second-grade black silicon carbide. The silicon carbide purity is not less than 90%, ranging from 90% to 92%. 90% purity black silicon carbide mostly works as a refractory and metallurgy material instead of abrasive.

As a high-quality refractory material, 90% SiC has the following characteristics:

1. Silicon carbide obtains a high melting point. Thus it features high fire resistance temperature, high-temperature chemical stability, and strength compared to corundum refractory materials.
2. Good resistance to high-temperature corrosion and high-temperature impact.
3. High mechanical strength, wear-resistant, and durable after being made into silicon carbide refractory bricks or products.
4. The cost is lower than that of first-grade black silicon carbide. So it has a cost advantage.
The applications of 90% purity silicon carbide are in thermal and refractory fields :

The key parts such as the waistline and water outlet of the steelmaking furnace are made of silicon carbide bricks or composite silicon carbide bricks made with other materials. For example, the nozzle of a steelmaking blast furnace is made of silicon nitride silicon carbide refractory bricks. Corundum silicon carbide graphite composite refractory bricks are used for the mixing furnace, torpedo tube, and iron groove parts. Silicon carbide corundum composite refractory material is used as a continuous casting nozzle, integral stopper, and ladle lining.
》》A good deoxidizer in the smelting of cast steel and ball-milled cast iron. Silicon carbide as a deoxidizer can increase carbon equivalent and replace ferrosilicon.
》》 Nonferrous metal metallurgy industry. For example, in the smelting of aluminum, copper, magnesium, and zinc, silicon carbide refractory bricks and refractory products are also widely used.
